I hate spending money on food. Its so... consumable. I would much rather spend the $100 plus dollars we spend every other week on a new pair of shoes... or beautiful fabric... or some cute skinny jeans...
and I need new Uggs...
You get the point.
A while back I was talking about this with my Mom and she gave me a tip that she used when my brothers and I were home consuming all her shoe, fabric, new jeans and Uggs money.
Each week she would look what was on sale ( or what we hadn't had for a while) meat wise.
( Sorry to any of you who don't eat meat... )
She would buy say a ham, pot roast, whatever and make 3 or so meals out of it. She would then supplement the rest of the weeks meals with soup, beans, pasta... breakfast for dinner ( AWESOME).
This she said ( and it does cause I now do it too ) saves a lot of money on the ol' food bill.
I have found Real Simple magazine does a great article every so often "10 Ways to Make _____"
This month they did a rotisserie chicken.
Maybe you all know this little trick but Im loving having a few extra bucks to transfer into my crafting/ shopping/ Starbucks addiction budget.
Here is a link to Real Simple's website to see whats cookin' with rotisserie chicken...
