I love so many things from Pottery Barn.
Unfortunately, my wallet cannot support my love for all their wares.
I saw these letters last week in the catalog and decided I NEEDED - yes needed them.
I love them as a unique alternative to a traditional wreath.
I love them as a unique alternative to a traditional wreath.
But for $79.00 each I really couldn't justify buying them.
Especially since they are "live" and not something I could bring back year after year...
SO....here is how I made my own:
Supplies:
Letter ( s)
Hot glue gun
ribbon
Instant Green Moss Cloth ( found at JoAnn Fabrics)
* I would also put newspaper under your project because it makes a BIG mess.*
1. Just start placing and gluing - make sure you leave enough "moss" to fold over the edges of the letter. ( I think straight letters ie: A, M etc would work best...)
2. Cover entire letter and sides then glue a ribbon to the back in whatever color you want.
Said mess...
Hang up and admire something that took you less than 30 minutes to do and looks like $80 bucks! :)

I love how the PB picture has Matt and your initials for display. Great Idea! I just saw this the other day in their new mag and was saying I wish I had more money to throw around.
ReplyDeleteHaha I didnt even notice that. :) It was ment to be!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I keep seeing them in PB and just can't bring myself to spend the money when I know how cheap I could make them. You did a great job!

ReplyDeleteThanks for this great tute! I'll be featuring it and your blog on BCD tomorrow! Thanks for linking!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great, you've done a excellent job, and it's great that it will last longer than a 'live' version! I know it's a bit early but how cute would it look against your red door at Christmas? a few decorations and your almost there!
ReplyDeleteThats a great idea! I think it looks a little lonely so Im going to see how it looks with a plain wicker wreath around it for spring.
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome! A friend of mine did her ring bearer's pillow with moss and it was stunning. I always linger when I see the packaged moss at Hobby Lobby but pass it up because I didn't know what in the world I would use it for. Thank you so much for the inspiration! I will definitely be picking some up ASAP!
