It always amazes me how children raised in the same household, by the same parents, can be so different.
For example, I have always been a creative, imaginative person. I was not super interested in sports or am very competitive when it comes to games etc. They just don't excite me.
I have two younger brothers.
One was very interested in sports ( and athletic) while the other is more into music and very good at drawing.
Growing up if we showed interest in something we were given the chance to explore it - usually until our interest moved on to something else.
I'm bring this up because while playing with B I wondered what she will pursue.
Will she be creative and like art? Will she be fiercely competitive? Will she be into writing or music? Love animals?
How am I going to expose her to these things so she can find what makes her happy?
Its easy to do things with your kids that you like. I love doing sidewalk chalk or painting with B.
Matt not so much. He is a good sport but he likes playing with her outside, going boating with her, and taking her to look at classic cars.

experiment, experiment! Ella has been around animals since she was born and riding horses since she was 8 months....she has no fear of going in with them or around them....(can be good OR bad) but my fear is that I pushed it on her and she WONT like them.....but the biggest factor is that you are AWARE of exposing her to a lot and you WANT to find out what she likes to make her happy...I think doing just what you said your parents did....experiment with what she wants and expose her to as much as you can!
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I just love it! I have 2 boys, one is 7 and one is 3. In a lot of ways they are so alike, that's just because everything my older son does, my little one wants to do just like his big brother. I can't wait for my little one to branch off into his own direction and see the possibilities ahead of him. He does love to color though and is really amazing at it for a 3 year old. But all Mom's feel this way about their kids, right? :)
Have a beautiful week.
Sincerely,
Melinda
Thank you very much Melinda! Hopefully in the next few weeks Ill be back to posting more regularly! :) Have a great week!
