This Day Was Coming...

B's first haircut.
It was becoming socially awkward for her to continue to have a mullet so I did it. I took my little lady to have her small amount of hair cleaned up a bit.
She did great ( thanks to the constant supply of snacks and milk) and looks so cute- bonus all her curls weren't just baby curls! :)

Flower Pillow Top Tutorial

I have been working on making pillows for our couch and preparing for B's big girl bed- where this one will probably live. :)

I made this pillow top on the plane ride out to see Danielle last week.
( yeah Im hard core, I craft on planes)

Since I did most of it on the plane their are no pictures to go along but here are the steps:

1. Cut circles of different sizes. They don't have to be perfect- I free hand cut them. I did 5 for each flower head. I just used scrapes I had.

2. Layer largest to smallest and using embroidery thread attach at the center of the flower.

3. Then using a coordinating color stitch down for the steam.

4. Finally, for the leaves attach under the flower head using embroidery thread in brown and green.

5. Finish stitching up for pillow, fill, and sew up your opening.

Toddler Sweat pants Re-Vamp Tutorial

Their is nothing better than a good pair of sweatpants, am I right?
B has a few of her own for those lazy days around the house.

I picked up these at Wal-Mart a while back and loved how they fit... except they were SO LONG. Bristol couldn't really wear them without tripping.

Before she out grew them I wanted to get some use out of them so...

ta-da toddler sweat pant re-vamp!

First I cut off the extra on the bottom. ( Be sure to leave a little extra cause you will be folding it up for the casting)

I then stenciled some flowers down the side to add a little interest to otherwise boring pink sweatpants.

Once the paint had dried I turned them inside out and made a casting for elastic.

Sew that up, thread the elastic through, and stitch up your opening. You now have super cute capris length, warmer weather sweat pants!

My model was more interested in showing me her belly button than the sweat pants...

Tomorrow I have a tutorial on a pillow top to show you!
Happy Monday!

Mothers Day WEEK!

I love creating but more often than not I create "stuff" for everyone but myself.
So, to help rectify this problem the entire week before Mothers Day ( Starting May 2)  we are going to have a little crafting appreciation for ourselves. :)

I have some AMAZING guests headed our way...

Emily from "Bloom"

I love "Bloom." I always look forward to Emily and Anne's honest and heartfelt look at Motherhood and life.
PS their Tortellini Soup recipe is fantastic!

***

Natalie from "A Turtles Life For Me"

I recently found her blog and enjoy it so much! She is an amazing baker ( yeah, she made a wedding cake) and we share a similar sense of humor. :)

***

Danielle from " D& G Stories"

Dani and I have been friends since college and caught the crafting bug together. She recently picked up sewing and could sew me under the table any day! She does an amazing job at whatever project she takes on!

***

and finally,

Kelly from "Sewing In No Mans Land"

I always look forward to seeing Kelly's projects. She has a great sense of design and has created some beautiful items with just what she has on hand! :) Plus she is super nice!

So Stay tuned for a week of "stuff" for just us Moms! :)

Happy Easter!

Hope you all are having a wonderful Easter! We had a nice afternoon, just the three of us... and Gage.
Stay tuned for a post later tonight ( once B has gone to bed) with some exciting announcements! :)

Chiquita Banana Romper

On my little va-ca we took a trip to Joanns. While we were there Danielle found this ruffled fabric in the remnants bin. We were so excited because we have seen this stuff all over blog land but had yet to order any.

We started with just making bloomers using LBB bloomer pattern ...

Then we had some extra so we needed tops... thus a miniature tub top was born.
I like that the romper is two pieces as we are about to embark on potty training and taking a whole outfit off is really not appealing.
Please ignore my dying grass and the rambo-ish headband...

Photo shoots over Mom... time to play with Gage.

This fabric is super soft and perfect for playing outside in the sun! :)

The Crafting Summit.

I am back home and although I'm happy to see my family our visit makes me miss my friend and wish she lived down the street!

I guess their will have to be MANY more crafting summits in our future.
( Our poor husbands- they must love us an awful lot)
We had a great time crafting, shopping, eating out ( which if your a Mom of a toddler thats a treat), talkin' baby, and laughing.

OK to the crafting...

I made it to Hobby Lobby- HELLO crafting mecca. SO much stuff in that place!

We worked on bows for our girls and made ruffled rompers for each of them.
( More on the romper tomorrow)

I also have a few tutorials to get up but for now Im going to catch up with my fam. :)

Craft-Cation

Please excuse my absence this week as I am taking a mini-vacation to go visit one of my best friends of almost 10 years!

Last year her and her hubby moved a plane ride away. :(
BUT they are expecting a little girl in August so we have lots of crafting to get done while I am visiting.
I cant wait to see her ( and make my maiden voyage to Ikea and Hobby Lobby).
It will be great to have a little R & R to recharge for the last month until Matt is home again with us.

I miss my girl already though.
Serious coloring.

So long story short,  I will have lots of great things to show you in Friday! :)

B's Felt Board

The other day I had my felt out doing the "Owl" project. I looked over and noticed B playing with some scraps, trying to attach them to the wall. I thought, you poor thing... you have a crafty Mama and you are trying to stick felt to a wall. So I made her a little felt board with a few figures. I need to make a few more but its a start ( I am no artist so this is quite the accomplishment)...

Handy carrying case...

Green side

Blue side... ps the black "thing" is supposed to be our dog.

To make it I used:

 cardboard 8 x10
Hot glue to glue the felt on either side ( think cardboard sandwich)
felt
Embroidery floss

I love this because she can use it in the car, if we ever dare to bring her on an airplane, doctors office, and quiet time.

I have big plans to make a ocean scene, finish the princess scene, maybe a zoo??
We'll see. :)

Ok a question for you guys... Do you like tutorials? Do you like just seeing a completed project to get ideas? I stink at tutorials because I usually make it up as I go so I never know what's an important step to document. BUT if its something you would want to see more of I can work on my communication skills and get a few more up here. :)

Have a great weekend!
