Till' Death Do You Part.

This week I have been thinking a lot about marriage.
In September Matt and I will be married 3 years.
Not forever by any means but, in that short time we have had to face our fair share of challenges.
I feel like when we got married we had no idea what we were in for.
No idea HOW to be married.
How could we?

We chose traditional vows and I love that.
Vows that at the time we really had no idea what they meant but each day are realizing how important and simple those promises were.

I really am lucky to have such a good partner to practice those vows each day with.

Some Organization.

When we bought our home the pantry was a major selling point. I loved how much storage it offered right off the kitchen. However, the pervious owners only had TWO shelves in this huge space.
( They were also the annoying wire ones what food packages would fall through constantly.)
This lead to a horribly disorganized space- of course I have no "before" pictures but last time my Dad came over he opened the door and went "Woah."
Enough said.

It became a priority to fix since its a space the people can see when they come over so I started looking at as another small room.

So here it is... our new and improved pantry.

Blurry picture...

Can Risers... AMAZING. :)

Love these vintage storage containers...

My favorite thing in the pantry.

It really makes such a difference in how I can function in my kitchen so thank you Matt and Dad for working all weekend to put it all together! :)

Not Your Granny's Throw Pillow

Why are throw pillows so expensive?
Seriously, though you go out to buy some throw pillows and if you need more than say, one you can spend almost $100 in pillows!
No thanks.

The other day I was at the thrift store and saw this shirt. Im sure some nice Granny wore it at one point but I had other plans.

Heres what you do:

I cut out a rectangle to the size I wanted ( using mostly the middle of the shirt). Cut through both layers- duh.

Turn inside out and sew up the sides. Unbutton the front and turn right side out.

Stuff or insert pillow form and button up.

Thats it!

Now you have a cute throw pillow for a couch or bedroom for $1.
( Not including whatever you use for fill- I used filling from another pillow I already had)

Now on to make another 7 or so.

Spoons For Your Garden...AND a GIVEAWAY

Did you think I had given up on crafting? With vacation and getting B ready for pre-school I haven't been doing much crafting lately... actually I don't think I have used my sewing machine for 3 weeks!
Anyway, Im back on the craft horse with these spoons. Kinda.

One summer when I was home from college I decided I wanted a garden.(?!) I forgot who I was asking though cause my Dad is super gardener. I ended up with more of a field of crops than a small garden which sadly I lost interest in and my parents ended up taking care of it. ( Sorry guys.)
When we moved into our home last fall I knew I wanted to try gardening again.
So my Dad helped me build raised beds and pumpkin mounds for my garden.
The one problem I ran into is I am NOT super gardener and as soon as I throw away the little sticks that have the plants name on it - I forget what it is. :(
So I came up with a rain proof way to label your garden that is decorative to boot.

I went to some local thrift stores and picked up a bunch of spoons. I got the big oversized ones for the garden and small ones for the herb garden. Matt helped me ( ok he did most of it) pound them flat.  Then I had Matt take them to work and using a metal stamper, stamp the veggies and herbs we would be growing this year. He also added the year on the back.
 Cute.

I need a few more as we got some plants and herbs that I wasn't planning on but overall I am happy with how they turned out. They are especially helpful with herbs.

Now the giveaway part. I am offering a set of the herb spoons to one of you!
The set includes herbs: Basil, Parsley, Mint, Dill, and Thyme.

All you have to do is leave a comment. Ill pick a winner at random on Friday.

Happy Monday. :)

Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's who teach us how to ride bikes, let little girls put bows in their hair, build Lego forts, make things for our Barbies, build tree houses, can recite favorite bedtime stories by memory, and give the best hugs when we need it.

Im lucky enough to know two of these great Dads.

My Dad and Bristol.

A Trip...

We took our first trip as a family to Cape Cod this past week...

( I refuse to call it a vacation since I have decided that parents don't get vacations.)
We rented a cabin and had a wonderful week doing day trips, watching the Bruins win the Stanley Cup, playing on the playground for hours, and putting B in time out.

We are now happy to be home and enjoying having space to spread out.
When we pulled into our driveway B started clapping and yelling "Yay!"
Matt said it best,
" I think the point of vacation is to make you appreciate your home and routine."

Off to tackle the mountain of laundry in my entry way.

Everyday Pictures

When B was first born you think she was the first baby Matt or I had ever seen based on the amount of pictures we took.
After some time though we have relaxed a little on the picture taking.
Maybe a little too much. :(
Last week I made the comment on how I am going to try and take more "everyday" photos. To remind me to take more pictures I have been leaving my point and shoot camera out on our kitchen bar. Here are a few shots I have gotten over the last week...

Pool side... still not sure what she thinks of the pool.

Reading to herself after getting in trouble... cant you tell by the death stare she is giving me.

Sand and Water table time with both her babies...

"Helping" Daddy make Banana Bread... she later found red food coloring and our kitchen looked like a mass murder took place... awesome.

Inappropriate?
 Maybe.
But too funny not to include. I came around the corner and B had found the basket of clean clothes ... I guess she needed a little extra support that day. :)

Such a fashionista. Way WAY ahead of the treads.
